Cycling is great exercise and a fun way to express individual style but can sometimes become hazardous, especially on city streets. After several accidents and close calls, designer Michael Cherman, decided he needed something to help him stay safe while riding at night. He set out to create a line with one goal in mind: make functional and stylish basics with visibility features. And just like that the ICNY brand was born.

Using 3M reflective technology, ICNY utilizes a unique dot application on socks and t-shirts that produce a strobe effect when light, i.e. headlights from vehicles, hit them. In addition to the dot patterns there are logo and graphic tees using the same materials. ICNY is not just for cyclists, it’s for anyone who wants to be seen at night, runners, skaters and pedestrians alike meeting at the intersection of safety and style. Everything from design to production happens at the studio in Brooklyn, NY.

PEdALED, founded in 2007 by Japanese fashion designer Hideto Suzuki, makes clothes inspired by bicycle. The poetic expression “pedal earth diving” is the acronym of “PEdALED”. Natural fabrics such as hemp, linen, and organic cotton form the basis of PEdALED clothing, sometimes re-using old clothes and other textiles. Synthetic materials are kept to a minimum. The garments are meticulously created in Japan, from design to manufacture. PEdALED garments are shaped for comfort, both on and off the bike. Ventilation, reflective details, and other useful features are finished with the attention to detail demanded by the style-conscious customer.
“After working for 15 years as a fashion designer for a famous Japanese label, I questioned the fact that the fashion business follows too much the fast changing market where clothes are manufactured like any other industrial commodity. I became disillusioned by fashion, and set out to search for something real, something I saw to be the ultimate in craftsmanship. I met a person who had learned the craft of building traditional log houses in Canada, and decided to take up this study. In the end, I built 10 houses by myself. This experience solidified my belief in the importance of making things, to create each object with a sincere attitude. And with this lesson in mind, I returned to the apparel business.” -Hideto Suzuki

Born in Hawaii in the summer of 1971, Lightning Bolt was comprised of Gerry Lopez and Jack Shipley at the time of its inception. Forty years since first born, the brand has reintroduced itself to the world.

Lightning Bolt at its core represents a philosophy that surfing, in its truest form, is a way of life. Those behind the brand redefined surfing at the time as it began to move away from the traditions of the past and embraced the radical change that lay ahead. Today, the bolt is a still a symbol that embodies a mythical energy source and an individualist perspective. The brand celebrates the passion of these individuals and surfing as pure connection to our natural environment as well as serving as the canvas of self-expression.

Lightning Bolt as a brand opens up the possibilities for technical progression and function in and out of the water. Premium product designed consciously and with function in mind. We offer a range of seasonal collections while maintaining an ever-evolving hard goods program. With a knowledge of the past in mind, Lightning Bolt remains committed to its ethos: Lightning Bolt: A Pure Source.

Brooks England Ltd. is one of the few survivors of the once-glorious British bicycle industry. In 1865, John Boultbee Brooks left his hometown of Hinckley in Leicestershire with just £20 in his pocket and headed to Birmingham, where in 1866 he established a business in horse harnesses and general leather goods under the name JB Brooks & Co Ltd. In 1878, the unfortunate death of Mr. Brooks’ horse led to a stroke of inspiration. Unable to afford another horse, he borrowed a bicycle in order to get to work. He loved the new invention, but found the seat quite uncomfortable and vowed to do something about it. And so it was that on 28 October 1882, Mr Brooks filed his first leather saddle patent. By the 1950′s, Brooks was the largest saddle manufacturer in the world.
Brooks England Ltd. once again draws upon its rich heritage to create a diverse offering for cyclists. Reviving the original ‘Saddles, Bags, Etc’ slogan, Brooks has re-introduced a range of cycle bags and other accessories inspired by the company’s patent archive. The new products include both reissues of original models and new designs jointly inspired by the early patents of the company’s predecessors and the needs of today’s cyclist.
